An American Railroad

AMERICAN RAILROAD

(On Highway 3, 3 miles west of Keremeos on the Similkameen River)

This old bridge and the sections of abandoned grade are mute reminders of the Vancouver, Victoria and Eastern Railway & Navigation Co.  A Great Northern subsidiary, it was pushed into the promising Hedley Princeton mining area in 1907-14.  In 1916 by agreement with the Kettle Valley Railroad, its operations were stopped west of Princeton.
