Kootenay Pass Summit on Hwy 3 at Stag Leap Park

The completion of the Kootenay Skyway portion of Highway #3 on August 15, 1964 was commemorated during the Commonwealth’s first outdoor Cabinet meeting that also featured the official naming of the Bridal Lake (formerly Summit Lake) to symbolize the ‘marriage’ of the East and West Kootenays, now joined together by the highest section of maintained paved all-use highway (summit elevation 1778 metres) in Canada.

This is a new Stop of Interest sign erected by the BC Ministry of Transportation as part of a BC150 initiative in 2008. We are still looking for some images for this Stop. If you have any please click on the NEWS icon and upload!
